Portland Pool Products Safety Cover System

The clients own a 28′ x 14′ Fox liner pool which complements their beautiful stone home in rural Lincolnshire. The pool was built by Portland Pool Products dealer, Grayfox Swimming Pools, and it was Nigel Gray of Grayfox who went to visit the clients at their home to discuss their pool cover requirements.
The clients were interested in a cost-effective manually-operated cover that ticked the usual boxes when it came to minimising evaporation heat losses and keeping debris out of the pool. However, the real focus of their concern was safety. They regularly have their grandchildren round to visit the home and play in the garden, and they worried about the possibility of one of them accidentally falling into the pool when unsupervised. A regular cover was of no use as a child or pet can still easily slip under.
Nigel explained to them the benefits of a Portland Pool Products safety cover. Because the cover is secured in tracks which run down each side of the pool, they form a ‘skin’ over the pool which will easily retain the weight of their grandchildren, and forms a solid barrier between the whole pool and the outside word (as evidenced by Grayfox’s engineer, demonstrating its effectiveness after installation).
Portland Pool Products Safety Cover System

Mr & Mrs Spiring live in an idyllic location overlooking the rolling countryside of picturesque south Devon. The pool at their home was originally built seven years ago by a pool company which had since gone out of business.
They have many trees close by which pose a particular problem with a lot of leaves ending up in the pool which constantly required fishing out. A regular pool cover was not the solution, as the leaves still ended up in the pool water.
They made a call to local swimming pool experts and Portland Pool Products dealer, Harris Pools of Torquay, who this year celebrated 30 years in business. Glen Gardiner of Harris Pools met Mr & Mrs Spiring at their home to have a look at their pool and discuss their options with them.
The Spirings’ initial thoughts were a low-profile conservatory type structure, as this would completely seal the pool in the way they wished in order to ensure leaves were kept completely out. However they felt that the building, even the low-profile style, would have been too imposing and detract from the views afforded in and around their home. Glen introduced them to the idea of a Portland Pool Products Safety Cover, which would meet their objectives of keeping all the leaves out, whilst not spoiling their view and, as an added bonus, also came in under the budget of the conservatory type structure.
Soon, the decision was made, the pool was measured up, and a new Portland Pool Products Safety Cover was ordered. The cover was delivered and installed soon after by engineers from Harris Pools. The installation was straightforward and went very smoothly on the day. Needless to say, the Spirings are absolutely delighted with their new Portland Pool Products Safety Cover. They report that it’s extremely easy to use and comes on or off the pool quickly, smoothly and with little effort. It keeps all the debris completely out of the water, as they stipulated, and eliminates heat losses through evaporation when in place. As it is designed to take the weight of adult humans, it’s also very effective at ensuring any visiting wildlife does not accidentally fall in the water! The cover also met their objectives aesthetically with its attractive blue colour and its unobtrusive installation.
